PLACES/ITEMS OF NOTE Hopmeadow Street, (named after the hops that were grown there), between 315 and Stratton Brook Road covers the Main Street area of Simsbury. Take advantage of great restaurants for everything from a coffee and snack to a first class gourmet dining experience. The Library, Town Hall and the Simsbury Historical Society are all located in our pedestrian friendly downtown, as are interesting and varied shops.
East Weatogue St. and Terry’s Plain Road go through some of the earliest sections of Simsbury and have historical designations.
If you turn right on 315 rather than left, you head into the Tariffville section of Simsbury, a former carpet manufacturing center with its vibrant village atmosphere and Farmington River gorge.
On Old Farms Road, you pass the Simsbury Farms Recreation Center and Golf Course with great views of the ridges and mountains on our western border. Throughout the ride you will pass working farms. Turn right at the light at Old Farms and Farms Village Road to visit a few more in the center of West Simsbury.
If you leave town via Hopmeadow Street heading towards Avon, look to the left for a spectacular view of the Heublein Tower on Talcott Mountain.
