The Simsbury Police Department is warning Simsbury residence and businesses of a scam using counterfeit traveler’s checks. These checks have been used as payment for services/goods or compensation for work performed. Some of these scams have been initiated via the internet using email communications. The checks appear to be authentic, however, after the victim has cashed them, they have been returned to the bank as counterfeit. Please be cautious when accepting payment using traveler’s checks.
