FLOYDVILLE ROAD BRIDGE REHABILITATION
The Town of East Granby has informed the Town of Simsbury that the construction contract for the East Granby Floydville Road Bridge Rehabilitation has been awarded to the low bidder – Old Colony Construction of Clinton, CT. The Town is receiving funding assistance under the Federal Local Bridge Program administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Federal Aid will provide 80% of the project cost with the balance paid from municipal funds.
The scope of rehabilitation includes abutment reinforcement and a new superstructure having a width of 32 feet curb-to-curb that will allow for bicycle lanes in both directions. As a result, the bridge will be closed to traffic from June 5, 2008 through December 15, 2008. A detour route will be established on Routes 10/202 and 189. Prior to start of construction the contractor will post starting date signs to give ample warning of the closure.
The Town of East Granby and the Town of Simsbury is aware of the inconvenience the closure may cause the public and will take all possible steps available to mitigate the inconvenience and to keep the time of closing to the minimum period necessary.
