PUBLIC BUILDING COMMITTEE
Special Meeting - December 22, 3003
Chairman Ostop called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. in the O&G trailer in the Simsbury High School parking lot.
Present: Bergethon, Derr, Kelly, Ostop, Patrina, Rowland
Absent: Holland, Petitjean
Guests: Purcell, Palmer, Sawitzke, Twitchell, Townsley, Holden & Dahlquist
There was a lot of discussion concerning the ‘eyebrow’ roof, especially its ends. There
were several suggestions for improvement.
Mr. Derr made a motion, Ms. Patrina seconded, to authorize Chairman Ostop to meet
with Fletcher-Thompson to investigate softening the blunt ends of the eyebrow by raising
the stair towers, filling in the ends with brick instead of block, filling in with part brick
part block, ‘glassing’ in ends similar to proposed front entry, or some other means
suggested by the Architect. The motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Derr made a motion, Ms. Patrina seconded to authorize Chairman Ostop to set a fee
not to exceed $3000 with Fletcher-Thompson for the ‘eyebrow’ investigation. The
motion passed unanimously.
Ms. Purcell said that she would have the previously painted red windows painted various
shades of gray to establish the shade of ‘warm silver’ for the curved metal roof and the
storefront curtain walls (except for the curtain wall in the Media Center which is to be
antique white).
After a unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned.
