What the Mill Rate means:
For every $1,000 of assessment you pay $30.65. Example: If your motor vehicle is assessed at $1,500 your taxes would be $45.98.
The new Sewer Use Fees for July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 will be $320.00 a year. Those bills will be mailed out the last week of June 2008 and are due by August 1, 2008. Water Pollution Control Authority
Tax Reminder
This is a reminder that Tax Bills will be due July 1, 2008.
Annual bills were mailed out June 27, 2008 for a July 1, 2008 due date. The last day to make a payment will be August 1, 2008. (Postmarks of August 1, 2008 will be accepted.)
Tax payments for Real Estate, Motor Vehicles that were registered on or before OCTOBER 1, 2007 and Personal Property will be due. By state law, failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from paying taxes.
If you do not get a bill, you should contact the Tax Collector’s Office immediately at (860)658-3238.
If paying by mail please send our portion of the bill with a check payable to Tax Collector-Simsbury PO Box 495, Simsbury CT 06070.

Back Tax Notation on Bill
If the notation “Back Taxes” appears on your bill, call the tax office for updated interest charges on what you already owe. Back taxes and interest must be paid in full before payment on current bills can be accepted. If you have back taxes they must be paid with cash, bank check or money order.
Penalty for Returned Checks
If your check is returned unpaid by the bank, an additional fee of $25.00 will be added to your balance due. In addition, you may be charged a penalty by your bank.
Penalty for Late Payment
If payment is not made within one month of the due date, the installment will become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month from the due date. As of Aug. 2, 2008 and Feb. 2, 2009, a total of 3% interest is due on the taxes unpaid from the original due date of either July 1, 2008 or January 1, 2009. AS THE OWNER OF TAXABLE PROPERTY, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO SEE THAT TAXES ARE PAID WHEN DUE.

Payment By Mail
Payments post-marked as of August 1, 2008 by the USPS are NOT DELINQUENT for the first installment. Payments post-marked as of Feb 1, 2009 by the USPS are NOT DELINQUENT for the second installment.
If a receipt is desired, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope and the entire bill with your payment. Checks should be made out to the Tax Collector- Simsbury.
