As the hub of activities and services for older individuals, the Simsbury Senior Center is a viable symbol of the Community's concern for our older residents. The Center acts as a focal point for information and services which provides educational programming, health screenings, counseling, social and recreational activities, and volunteer and employment opportunities. The Center strives to offer each individual rich and varied opportunities to continue growth and development. At the Center, a senior is defined as anyone who is nearing retirement (persons 50 years of age or
older) and wishes to participate in the programs available. Families, spouses, caregivers, and the "sandwich generation" are encouraged to utilize the Center as a support resource.
The Simsbury Senior Center, located in Eno Memorial Hall, 754 Hopmeadow Street, is open year round, Monday 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. For further information stop in or call, 651-9161.

Friendly Visitor Program
The Simsbury Friendly Visitor Program has caring, upbeat volunteers who will visit homebound Simsbury residents each week for an hour. Providing relief from lonliness and isolation, volunteers brighten the day of a senior or disabled resident. Friendly Visitors are good listeners who will enjoy a cup of coffee, take a walk, or share a hobby as they visit. Perhaps you or someone you care about would enjoy a Friendly Visitor!
or...How about volunteering to be a Visitor? Have an extra hour each week to provide some companionship to a fellow resident who is homebound? Our careful matches create fulfilling relationships. Scheduling is flexible. In addition, the staff provides guidance to residents and their families through the myriad of services and resources available to senior and homebound residents. This outreach serves to identify individual needs and resources to meet these needs.
Dial-A-Ride
For the past 15 years, the Social Services Department has administered the Dial-A-Ride Program for Simsbury's elderly and disabled residents. Two buses run daily, Monday through Friday 9:00 - 4:00 PM, providing door-to-door service within Simsbury. Service is provided for medical appointments, shopping, going to the hairdresser, the Library, the Senior Center, local events, the Farmington Valley Mall, shops on Route 44, and McLean Day Care Program. The first Monday of the month, a bus goes to Buckland Hills Mall; the second Monday, a bus goes to Enfield Square. Last year the Dial-A-Ride buses carried 10,330 passengers and traveled 51,490 miles. For further information about the Dial-A-Ride Program, call the Social Services Department.
