David Bell Selected to Manage Simsbury Performing Arts Center
On Monday, November 23, 2009 the Simsbury Board of Selectmen appointed David Bell and Academic Theatre Consultants LLC to provide management services for the Simsbury Performing Arts Center. The Simsbury Performing Arts Center Board had recommended Bell following a search process which was completed in November.
Mr. Bell is a resident of Simsbury and has worked in the performing arts field for over thirty years. His most recent experience includes serving as the Associate Dean of The Hartt School, a nationally recognized performing arts college. Prior to this Mr. Bell oversaw the administrative, operational and production activities of The Hartt School. As the Managing Director he was responsible for managing a professional road theatre and supervising a complement of production shops which presented and promoted over four hundred events annually. Mr. Bell is a graduate of the University of Idaho and holds a Master’s of Fine Arts in Production Management from the Yale University School of Drama.
The Simsbury Performing Arts Center is the home to the Hartford Symphony’s Talcott Mountain Music Festival, and has hosted concert events including the Beach Boys, Alison Krauss, Kansas and Earth, Wind & Fire. Mr. Bell will work closely with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, as well as recruiting new entertainment opportunities for the venue. “I look forward to this summer’s Talcott Mountain Music Festival” Bell said, “and a future of exciting entertainment at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center”.
